Inti Raymi is the biggest holiday of the year in Cusco. It's the religious celebration honoring Inti, the ancient Incan god of the sun. It is also the celebration of the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. I attended the festivities at Sacsayhuaman, ruins in Cusco. You can see all the ancient stonework below. I got sleepy while my friends played cards.
The procession is mostly composed of performers walking and dancing.
These ladies were my favorite.
The huge crowds sitting across on cliffs overlooking the event.
After Inti Raymi, I ventured to "Laq'o" or "Temple of the Moon". You see my little shadow amidst more ruins here.
Another causal siting of ruins. This type of thing is normal for Cusco and normal for Peru. Walk---ruins. Walk---more ruins. What a life.
