So, Peru is a place with many faces. In particular: jungle, mountains, and ocean. Cusco sits high in the mountains as an ancient city sits next to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. I spend most of my time there. Last weekend three friends and I headed to Puerto Maldonado, a city east of Cusco in the Amazon Rainforest. It's home to the famous Tambopata National Reserve and Sandoval Lake. It took about 10 hours to get there by overnight bus.
My three friends are also teaching colleagues. They make for excellent travel companions.

Wildlife!
Part of our jungle trek included a walk on these amazing canopy bridges right at the top of the trees.
