Look at this table. I get to sit here. It's so exciting I can barely stand it. This is the Socios en Salud group of community health workers, nutritionists, psychologists, midwives, another volunteer, and me. This is one of the weekly meetings the team has with the community health agents in the Carbayllo community providing maternal infant healthcare. This group provides healthcare education and advocacy each week to women receiving our services. As you might infer, the intervention provides support in physical health, mental health, and emotional health.
We have the meetings each week, and I am a sponge with programming, culture, and Spanish. It's exhausting at times and also deeply, eternally satisfying.
This is my street I'm living on in Carbayllo district. It's about 15 minutes by loud bus to our office. There's also a community center where the group photo above was taken. It's different than the shipping-container style homes up on the hill where our gestantes (pregnant ladies) live. I am spending afternoons with members of this team walking to meet the pregnant ladies in the program not far from where I'm living.

This is the area (on the hill) where our gestantes live. More photos on this to come. This is located about 20 minutes from where I'm living by bus followed by a little motortaxi going up-up-up.
