I should probably say it again. I should also remember it again. Global health is a different than anything I have done professionally before. Maybe because “the crew”, the players, are new people I have no met before. The procedures for doing many things are different. I probably could write a book on dwelling in newness for extended periods of time. How I perodically want to crawl into holes, and I understand (as I have said so much) it is part of the deal. I also am doing 10 skills I have never done in a professional context before. The last stop for many of them was graduate school (which I thought was different than work). So, yes.
In other news… there are many dance parties happening. The gorgeous photo above is from one of babies born in our program with her momma. A friend asked if the young mom would have gotten prenatal care before we worked with her. The answer (beautifully) is yes. That said, I feel clear we have offered her a more comprehensive, well-rounded care that I would offer to anyone I love. The loving look of Ericka (our team midwife) depicts her cautious and caring manner perfectly. I tear up with looking at it.
