Challenges and Future Directions

It´s a tough reality to admit to yourself that doing hard things is important to you. That you like the discomfort, you like the challenge, you like being in the deep end. Well friends… I do. I want people in my life who can and do support this. I look forward to a future partner who will do this and who is doing the same.

When I am uncomfortable and I am learning, I do not love how that feels in real time. I have said that so often on this blog. That said, I can see that it works for me in my life. I can see that things do get easier. Since I want to be totally fluent in Spanish, I need to speak Spanish. I need to start conversations with my Latino friends and colleagues in Spanish. I need to not be afraid of how that sounds.

Chris Guillebeau is a courageous writer who I often appreciate. He asks a question that resonates with me, “Are you pursuing enough hard things?”

Of course, this refers to things you get to choose. I will ask myself the same thing in another important way, “What am I avoiding? What am I hiding from?”
