I think it is really, really important to do work you are proud of. Like critically important. I also want my literal, physical presence to be genuinely helpful. I want to be missed when I am not there. For values in my life, it ranks among the highest. Doing work with people I respect, collaborating in places of greater need, and creating new projects is something I will do for the rest of my career and likely the rest of my life.
I will write (almost) daily blogs, manage my own resistance towards distraction and the disorientation that comes from so many new things at one time. The thing is, it can be really easy to get in your own way. The mental capacity, the fact that the work is confusing and challenging, all that. I think the best thing, is to decide when you are going to do challenging work. When it is scheduled, you can work around the resistance. You can avoid a lot of the distraction. Then you can get to it.
