So.

I am pretty sure we, as humans, get wiser when we are not trying to get wiser. We get wiser in the background while focusing on whatever we really have to deal with in life. I get more honest when writing each day is my focus. Not because I am trying to get more honest. I get more directed with my attention when I painfully realize that I can tend to avoid important things. I eat more vegetables when I don´t want to waste all the green things in the fridge. I think most of the real changes happen in the background when we are not specifically trying to improve ourselves. I love this from Richard Rohr: “Most people confuse their life situation with their actual life, which is an underlying flow beneath the everyday events.” As such, I want to interact with my actual life which means I need to stay focused and floss my teeth more often.
