Habits

I am pretty sure as people, we are (more than) the whole of our habits. That said, habits compose what we do with our time and energy. Not a small thing.

They are the things we learn to do regularly. Because we do something regularly, two things happen.

First, we do the activity at all.

Second, we are more consistent and it`s less difficult to do. Again, not a small thing.

They form of the backbone of actually doing the work. Doing it or not doing it. To me, this is an underrated concept.

The topic of habits applies for harder topics and skills as well. I am pretty sure that people often called courageous took a first risk, started doing something, and after some arduous consistency, eventually developed a habit. Then, they continued with the habit and perhaps took on more and more things. Someone may not refer to themselves or even identify with being courageous but have simply developed habits around doing uncomfortable tasks outside their comfort zone.

Habit over identity.

This is likely more how things work in my opinion.
