Parenting Ourselves

Could adult life be renamed learning how to parent ourselves? I hear a rooster as I write this.

As I recalled with Adult Anna and Child Anna at lunch, most of my day is composed of me coaching myself. Most coaching is self-coaching, after all. The work simply comes from parenting ourselves through these ongoing series of moments, through the evening, making ourselves eat dinner, and actually sleeping.

Somehow, I can’t repeat that enough.

As I was musing yesterday, the bigger topic is when people don´t parent themselves. When people don´t care for themselves or find themselves worthy or necessary recipients of care. In this, we have a problem.
