A thought ran through my head all afternoon yesterday.

We spend a lot of time wanting other people to have the same motivations we do. Assuming that sharing motivations with someone is the only real way to get work done. Assuming that our motivations are the only valid ones.

The error, I am learning, is to not take the time to learn what these motivations are.

The good news is that good work can be done even if someone´s motivations differ from ours. Knowing what they are to better understand how or if they can fit together.

Un pensamiento pasó por mi cabeza toda la tarde de ayer.

Pasamos mucho tiempo queriendo que otras personas tengan las mismas motivaciones que nosotras. Asumiendo que compartir las motivaciones con alguien es la única forma real de hacer el trabajo. Asumiendo que nuestras motivaciones son las únicas válidas.

El error, estoy aprendiendo, es no tomarme el tiempo para aprender cuáles son esas motivaciones.

La buena noticia es que se puede hacer un buen trabajo aunque las motivaciones de alguien difieran de las nuestras. Saber cuáles son para entender mejor cómo o si pueden encajar.
