Coming from the US, I had a very specific idea of what success meant. It meant:
I do well, and I get better.
This is individualistic and not wrong.
There are other definitions of success, though. Collective success. Where what is important is not me specifically, but the stability and comfort of a group of people. Family is the anchor throughout much the world, who may not define success in any Western framework.
If one’s family is healthy, stable, and working, life is as it should be. That’s a positive movement.
If I care to be effective, I will work to better understand this.

Al venir de Estados Unidos, tenía una idea muy concreta de lo que significaba el éxito. Significaba:
Me va bien y me va mejor.
Esto es individualista y no está mal.
Pero hay otras definiciones de éxito. El éxito colectivo. Donde lo importante no soy yo específicamente, sino la estabilidad y el confort de un grupo de personas. La familia es el ancla en gran parte del mundo, que puede no definir el éxito en ningún marco occidental.
Si la familia de uno está sana, estable y funciona, la vida es como debe ser. Es un movimiento positivo.
Si me importa ser eficaz, trabajaré para comprender mejor esto.
