I’ve been reading Witness by Ariel Burger on the teaching of Elie Wiesel. He writes a resonant statement:

“I am ambitious. I want both worlds. I want to academy and the yeshiva, the breadth of comparing traditions, and the depth of living in my own.”

I, too, want to inhabit the early writing on my cave walls and enter the “other” frequently. I seek to find that sacred space of my own life in which I invent and create my traditions.

As Wiesel reminds us, I want there to be a mirroring between my inner and outer hospitality. It’s a greater generosity with others as I have achieved a more comfortable bed, a better-set table, and a more comfortable meal in the kitchen of my own life.

Como nos recuerda Wiesel, quiero que haya un reflejo entre mi hospitalidad interior y exterior. Es una mayor generosidad con los demás a medida que he conseguido una cama más cómoda, una mesa mejor puesta y una comida más confortable en la cocina de mi propia vida.
