A Visit to Pisac

Living in Cusco has many advantages. First, you live in the capital of the ancient Incan Empire. This means you walk through ancient history on your way to work each day and feel a blend of modern and sacred life all the time. Second, you live near the Sacred Valley and places like Pisac where the forces of weird and interesting come together in innovative ways. Pisac is about an hour from Cusco by bus through many  nauseating, mountain curvy roads. This is what happens when you live in the valley of a mountain range in and want to go somewhere.

Surrounding the small city are craggy green mountains just like this.

Pisac is a colonial village underneath a famous Inca fortress. It's also home to a huge artisanal market. It's a wonderful way to get started in the Sacred Valley.

This is a normal-looking street in Pisac.
