A dear friend sent me an email this week asking about "normal" things. "What's on your walls? Have you made friends? What are you eating? Are you happy?" She was my inspiration to write this post. Here are a few answers.
I'm starting with a photo I took this morning of a rock wall in my neighborhood of San Blas.
I am joyfully happy.
My day started with a two course lunch at the local market. The first course was a spaghetti soup with chicken and potatoes. It was simple and good.
This was the second course. It's a super popular dish called "Lomo Saltado", and it's made with beef, rice and chicken. Also, simple and delicious. The cost for both these items is 5 Soles or around $1.75. The market is a great place to eat local food as cheaply as I've found.
This is the lovely young lady who made my lunch. Usually the food is made in those giant pots and shared throughout the lunch hour.
This is my street. My apartment is the second blue door on the right.
I spent the last 2 weekends visiting the Sacred Valley with a friend. Normal life, I think so.
