I think one of the things that has surprised me since I moved to Perú is the way communication and connection have worked with my US communities. Regular writing and regular sharing not only opens doors. It actually creates doors. I am not sure there were walls there before, but I found some new doors. I am not sure I noticed them before. Or maybe I had not given rise to them yet. Maybe I also seriously underestimated digital connection. I think this new type of connection through regular communication has been one of the quiet newcomers of my year.
