Thoughtfully Affected

My mom said a lovely thing today about her experience interviewing women currently living at the Journey House in Kansas City. She is talking with women who have exited the prison system who are walking on the edges of their own lives. Their stories are deeply painful and also significantly redemptive based on a myriad of factors. Personal note: to write more about my obsession with the concept of redemption later. My mom has reflected on her time interviewing women at Journey House saying, she is “thoughtfully affected” by their genuine human experiences. I think that is beautifully put, and I am claiming that as a goal of mine too. I want to be “thoughtfully affected” by things too. Carefully and genuinely affected.
