Two World at Once

Sometimes, I have the specific sensation that I am two places at the same time. I had the pleasure of having lunch with the Sisters of San Joseph in Lima today, sitting around their table talking about their work in education. We ate a simple lunch with strawberries at the end. They talked about living in community with each other, caring for each other, and they wanted to hear about me.

I had reached out to them because I am connected to the sister community in Kansas City. I, too, have sat at the table with them in Kansas City and talked about my life in Peru. There was something about it. Something about sitting around the table of your own life, talking to different versions of yourself, talking about who you want to me. Shared community over time gives us points of reference.

Two worlds at once. Sometimes you feel like you have stepped out of dualism and into the freshness of two experiences, simultaneous, and meaningful. You get to have both, here and there.
