I read a line by Maria Popova, creator of Brain Pickings, who is a creative inspiration of mine.
She mentioned that sleep is one of the closest things that humans have to a superpower.
I agree, and whether or not I agree, I know it´s scientifically correct.
My body is unforgiving and when I am tired. Decisions often get made from my inability to function. I fall into rest, all in. The party is over, and I have left the premesis.
One of the greater gifts of my adult life has come with the learning that rest is always the better decision. I think of it as a type of “negative space” us humans crave. I have not yet regretted it. I used to fight going to bed. That flghting has ended. Perhaps it is because I am doing a lot and consuming a lot of energy. Perhaps I am simply getting older. Whatever it is, the recipe seems to be the same.
I am resharing this wonderful list from Maria Popova: https://www.brainpickings.org/2019/10/23/13-learnings-13-years/
