… was my legendary high school world history teacher, passionate educator of critical thinking, and a total character. He is a gift of an influence in my intellectual life centered in internationalism. I have a lifetime of gratitude towards him. He made two resounding comments I recall now, as I write this on the floor of my apartment in Iquitos.

“It´s not just who you are, but whose you are.”

In regards to the drive to write and share, he reminded the students in his class:

“Leave a trace of yourself in the world.”
