I have been working very consistently to publish an article I wrote for Socios en Salud (Partners in Health) during my 9 month tenure there as a volunteer last year. It was my foray into global health and a heavy-handed, indepently-charged one at that. Writing this article has been at least as challenging to me as completing my Masters thesis.
I remember a line from Seth Godin about people are often successful becuase they care more about making something happen.
It also seems that publishing means that you tend to something until it is done. You don´t zone out and not do it.
While I have not yet written a book, my heart is now filled with empathy for people who pour every drop of energy they have into writing (scientific or otherwise). They spend years doing so, revising it until they are blue in the face, and then give birth. A gestation of many gestations.
