I am learning, carefully over time about saying
“okay”.
As I have mentioned before, saying yes is often not something I enthuiastically do. In fact, more often than not, I nod. I say okay.
But I am finding that when I say yes a little bit, for example to go on a recent trip to Oxapama, I get a lot back.
I was tired, and I honestly did not feel like going. But I went, and my life is genuinely enriched as a result. I think there are plenty of times when no is the best and most important thing that can say and do.
But “yes” and “no” in equal measure, carefully identified equally enrich a life.
This also goes for when you tell your coworkers that “you can notify me if I am annoying you” and they actually tell you if you are talking to them too much and notifying them too often. Welcome to my week of work at my new job this past week.
Oxapampa, Peru. Still thinking about the recent trip there last weekend.
