Out of the midst of a life, the day to day, your way of listening to people, your preferences for certain foods, your weird appetite, there are dark creatures living in that water of your life. Information about what you like, what you avoid, what you are resisting, and what you would rather never consider. You sit at the doctors office and your mind wanders. You wish you were not there. You have sat on the flight too long. Why all the napkins? You hate how certain things feel.
Here is what I am saying… there is information in these moments if you tune in. It´s frequently not fun to tune in. You would rather be zoning out in your kitchen cooking mountains of vegetables. You would rather be drinking a cocktail with a friend. You would rather not be where you are. But in the dark water of our lives, there lives these salty new creatures. These new entities of information. My Spanish is one of those creatures. These pieces of things. I can´t say I would want to reach into a dark aquarium but at the same time, I feel a sense that if everything about us matters if we can actually gaze at them. The point is to gaze, if you can muster it, and actually encounter your own self, salty and all.
