Real Public Health in Real Life Pandemics

I published the post below on WhatsApp today, the first day of Peru’s national emergency against Corona.

My post reads: It’s the mindset of the commuity in the long term that makes public health work. I am working from home, and I have the privlidge to do it. This is true for Corona, but it’s true for everything. The effort is a healthcare system that takes better care of everyone. We are here and we care about each other.

Public health works. We need it. It also forces us to be responsible. And yes, there are secondary impacts to these initatives that can be negative. I am concerned this quarantine will put many in (further) financial crisis. However, I stand by the need to be at home. It’s social responsibility. It’s caring. It’s not sexy. But necessary.
