I´ve been thinking the past couple of days about astronauts. The astronauts and the “Overview Effect”, the perspective that comes from looking at earth from Outer Space. Boundaries appear non-existent, our life together on this fragile blue ball (or pale blue dot). I am thinking about a line in Seth Godin´s book The Practice about having decided to be in this, particular room. When describing an intentional community of people who met each week,

“…if you don´t want to be on this journey, don´t be in this room.”

If you’re an astronaut, you wouldn´t have agreed to be launced into Space, if you didn’t want this perspective of Earth.

It´s true from here and there. It’s true in this internet cafe as I write this.

If you want to be on this journey, one must have decided to be in this room.

Estos últimos días he estado pensando en astronautas. Los astronautas y el "Overview Effect", la perspectiva que supone mirar a la Tierra desde el Espacio Exterior. Los límites parecen inexistentes, nuestra vida en común en esta frágil bola azul (o punto azul pálido). Estoy pensando en una línea del libro de Seth Godin, The Practice, sobre haber decidido estar en esta habitación en particular. Cuando describe una comunidad intencional de personas que se reúnen cada semana,

"...si no quieres estar en este viaje, no estés en esta habitación".

Si eres una astronauta, no habrías aceptado ser lanzada al Espacio, si no quisieras esta perspectiva de la Tierra.

Es cierta desde aquí y desde allá. Es cierto en este cybercafé mientras escribo esto.

Si quieres estar en este viaje, uno debe haber decidido estar en esta sala.
