Good leaders did their emotional labor homework. They showed up to work with digested emotions and even prepared emotions.

Prior to reacting.

Prior to saying something unhelpful.

Prior to acting without empathy remembering that other people are simply not them.

Good leaders know over and over again what the purpose is - who and what it’s for. They have decided and clearly communicated what better looks like. They haven’t gotten lost in the details. They learned by doing anyway, then communicated about it. Everyone else is clearer for having interacted with them.

It’s a gift when someone has already done the word and the water the spread around the watercolor of work is actually clarity. It’s glorious.

I am writing this as it further defines who I seek to be as a leader.

Los buenos líderes hicieron los deberes emocionales. Se presentaban en el trabajo con las emociones digeridas habiendo trabajado las cosas sino con emociones preparadas.

Antes de reaccionar.

Antes de decir algo inútil.

Antes de actuar sin empatía, recordando que los demás no son ellxs.

Los buenos líderes saben una y otra vez cuál es el propósito, quién y para qué es, y han decidido cómo es mejor. No se han perdido en los detalles.

Es un regalo cuando alguien ya ha hecho el trabajo y el agua se extiende alrededor de la aquarela del trabajo es realmente la claridad. Es glorioso.

Escribo esto porque define aún más lo que busco ser y lo que quiero como líder.
