In my new apartment building, the woman who designed and constructed the space also lives there.
She mentioned via text her family had spent quite a bit of time designing and building it with care. She seemed proud and clear about it. Yes, this is our place. This is how it is and we are proud of how we made it.
In fact, we are so proud of how we made it that we will live in it for the rest of our lives after the fact.
