Don’t worry about getting better but simply be faithful to practice around what you truly, truly care about.
Be incredibly faithful, more than you imagined.
Maybe all those middle school perfectionistic productivity courses and overdoing it can simply teach us that what really works is to create a practice and return to it every day. A practice that you mess up. One that has no magic or muse. A simple endless number of imperfect actions, done as a type of returning to ourselves because we are our tiny repeated choices and our actions more than anything else by sheer volume. Those are the heavy weights of our lives, after all.
It means you have committed to showing up even when it wasn’t a great performance. In fact, you showed up not looking your best, and you were faithful. There it is.
Showing up when you feel like it’s going to be a poor performance is an act of faith and courage.
It’s pretty much our human setting, and I want us to talk more about it.

No te preocupes por mejorar, sino simplemente por ser fiel a la práctica en torno a lo que de verdad, de verdad te importa.
Sé increíblemente fiel, más de lo que imaginabas.
Tal vez todos esos cursos de productividad perfeccionista de la escuela media y la exageración pueden simplemente enseñarnos que lo que realmente funciona es crear una práctica y volver a ella todos los días. Una práctica en la que metes la pata. Una que no tenga magia ni musa. Un simple número interminable de acciones imperfectas, realizadas como un tipo de vuelta a nosotros mismos porque somos nuestras pequeñas elecciones repetidas y nuestras acciones más que cualquier otra cosa por puro volumen. Esos son los pesos pesados de nuestras vidas, después de todo.
Significa que te has comprometido a aparecer incluso cuando no ha sido una gran actuación. De hecho, apareciste sin tu mejor aspecto y fuiste fiel. Ahí lo tienes.
Aparecer cuando sientes que va a ser una mala actuación es un acto de fe y coraje.
Es más o menos nuestro escenario humano, y quiero que hablemos más de ello.
