No one is trying to make this planet worse than they found it. It’s simply not the case.
If it didn’t seem like the best course of action, they wouldn’t do it and neither would you. You don’t do things that strike you as unhelpful or unproductive either.
I think about empathy and how easy it is during conflict to enter the endless echo chamber. We might start off a thought with: “If I were you…”
But that’s the whole point. They aren’t.
“Since I’m not you…” is a way more productive place to begin.
Other people don’t carry your same story in their heads.
Other people don’t see what we see.
Other people don’t want what you want.
Just because something makes a noise inside of me doesn’t mean that other people will hear it, care about it, or be interested in it.
The amazing part about this is that we can still make choices knowing we’re all playing a game.
I think the bigger question is… do we care enough to engage in ways not exclusively about our singular perspective?

Nadie intenta dejar este planeta peor de lo que lo encontró. Sencillamente, no es el caso.
Si no les pareciera lo mejor, no lo harían y tú tampoco. Tampoco haces cosas que te parecen inútiles o improductivas.
Pienso en la empatía y en lo fácil que es durante un conflicto entrar en la interminable cámara de eco. Podríamos empezar un pensamiento con: "Si yo fuera tú...".
Pero de eso se trata. No lo son.
"Como yo no soy tú..." es un punto de partida mucho más productivo.
Otras personas no llevan tu misma historia en la cabeza.
Los demás no ven lo mismo que nosotros.
Otras personas no quieren lo que tú quieres.
El hecho de que algo haga ruido dentro de mí no significa que otras personas lo oigan, se preocupen por ello o se interesen por ello.
Lo asombroso de esto es que aún podemos tomar decisiones sabiendo que todos estamos jugando un juego.
Creo que la gran pregunta es... ¿nos importa lo suficiente como para comprometernos de formas que no tengan que ver exclusivamente con nuestra perspectiva singular?
