On Living Somewhere

The difference between a tourist and expatriate (foreigner living abroad) is major. Commitment is different. Perspective is different, and goals are different. I think it changes the way you see a place. Living somewhere is not visiting somewhere. That said, walking around Cusco looking as gringa (blonde/white) as I could is interpreted by many Peruvians that I am a tourist.  This experience is complete with posing for photos with ladies in traditional dress with baby goats wearing hats. I suppose living in another country is full of opposing experiences, and this is no exception.
