It´s hard to describe the transcendental. I am attempting to do so. Last weekend, I ventured onto the Salkantay trek to Macchu Pichu. It's a 4-day trek through mountains and valleys to arrive in Aguas Calientas, or "Macchu Pichu City". We then explored the Wonder of the World.
Most of the trek was me, our small group of "big-lunged" people, and green open earth. It was constant movement up mountains, and down through rivers where the earth split in two.
Perhaps what was most striking was the openness of the earth, the expanse in all directions, the width. I felt parts of myself blending in with the landscape. What a rare and huge experience that is.
This photo was taken at the highest point of the trek at 15,000 feet. It was freezing, filled with small little alters built by previous trekers, and foggy.
When I arrived in Machu Picchu heaven, this was the look on my face. Joy, exhaustion, contentment, and gratitude.
