I notice when I change my own behavior… slowly.
For example, for years I wanted to bring my lunch to work. I was so annoyed I never did before. I wanted to cook more. Drip by drip, paying and not paying attention, I have started cooking more during the week. Recently, I have started bringing my lunch into work, nearly every day.
Then, I realized a month or two later I had made a change. This is different than heroically doing things quickly. If you go after something with such full force, you risk burning out. Zoning out is also very probable. But if you just do your life a little bit at a time, eventually change can trickle in. You cook more because you have finally accepted your need to go to bed which means that you now have time at night to nourish yourself. You note a pattern months after the change, in a definitely non heroic status. Just a normal human one.
