If you care about someone, you could write them a letter.

You could explain that your handwriting doesn’t replace seeing them in person, but it´s not half bad. You could mention your thoughts of their hot summer, their new kid, their work activities. You could mention how much you thought about the forest fires while in Colorado or how hot it was in NYC. Mostly what you have done is shared something.

There that thing is, arrived, in someone’s hands.

Perhaps I’ve never treasured paper mail so much before. Mail is hard for me to receive in Iquitos. It´s also something you can hold on to.

It reminds us that we are always on line with each other but the physical form reminds us.

We do all of this better when we remember how together we actually are.

Si te importa alguien, puedes escribirle una carta.

Podrías explicarle que tu letra no sustituye a la de verle en persona, pero que no está nada mal. Podrías mencionar tus pensamientos sobre su caluroso verano, su nuevo hijo, sus actividades laborales. Podrías mencionar lo mucho que pensaste en los incendios forestales mientras estabas en Colorado o el calor que hacía en Nueva York. Sobre todo, lo que has hecho es compartir algo.

Ahí está esa cosa, llegada, en las manos de alguien.

Quizás nunca antes había valorado tanto el correo en papel. El correo es difícil de recibir en Iquitos. También es algo a lo que puedes aferrarte.

Nos recuerda que siempre estamos en línea con los demás, pero la forma física nos lo recuerda.

Hacemos todo esto mejor cuando recordamos lo juntos que estamos en realidad.
