The things you don’t notice are likely the things you will miss with a deep, misty ache when they are gone.
The buzzy vibration coming from the overwhelming heat in Iquitos is something I miss when I’m not there.
I overheard myself recently tell a cab driver that if he moves to the US, the parts of his life in Lima, aspects he has noticed and perhaps not appreciated, would likely be what he longs for later and isn’t able to name.
What you don’t notice is very likely to be what you will miss. Or hadn’t recognized as part of your day.
Las cosas que no notas son probablemente las que echarás de menos con un profundo y nebuloso dolor cuando desaparezcan.
El zumbido del calor agobiante de Iquitos es algo que echo de menos cuando no estoy allí.
Hace poco me oí a mí misma decirle a un taxista que si se muda a Estados Unidos, las partes de su vida en Lima, los aspectos que ha notado y quizá no apreciado, serán probablemente lo que añore más tarde y no sea capaz de nombrar.
Lo que no nota es muy probable que sea lo que echará de menos. O no haya reconocido como parte de su día.
